THE MIRACLE EQUATION FOR CRE BROKERS
Hal Elrod‘s The Miracle Equation is one of my favorite books to pick up and reread.
I first read it almost exactly five years ago.
It was one of those books that stopped me in my tracks and changed the way I looked at my goals.
The book’s core idea is simple but powerful: even seemingly impossible goals can be achieved if you commit to the right mindset and actions.
That seems obvious on the surface, but Hal takes it up a notch by integrating it with his famous Miracle Equation. Here it is:
Unwavering Faith
The steadfast belief that your goal will happen, no matter what.
+
Extraordinary Effort
The consistent, focused action that makes it happen.
=
Miracles
It’s not magic or luck—it’s just how big results are created.

The Power of the Equation in Action
Let me share a personal example.
I first applied this equation in December 2019. My goal? To create an entirely new coaching program for Massimo in just 30 days.
At the time, it felt like a stretch goal—something that bordered on unrealistic.

This was a picture 5 years ago, putting the Miracle Equation into practice (and keeping myself accountable by publishing it on YouTube).
But I committed to it with unwavering faith. I told myself, “This is happening, no matter what.” I became crystal clear on the outcome I wanted and refused to let doubt creep in.
From there, it was all about execution—putting in extraordinary effort.
I mapped out the plan, worked backward from the deadline, and tackled one step at a time with focus and determination.
And by the end of December, the program was done.
Looking back, I realize it wasn’t magic. It wasn’t even particularly complicated. It was just the result of staying laser-focused on what mattered most while most people around me were winding down for the holidays.
This was the same approach I took with MassimoCon ’24. I wanted it to be the best CRE brokerage event in history and even offered a money-back guarantee. No one asked for their money back.
Why This Matters for Brokers
Now, let’s talk about you.
Most people this time of year are taking their foot off the gas. They’re coasting into the summer, telling themselves they’ll hit the ground running in August.
But you and I both know this: August momentum starts now.
This is the best time for commercial real estate brokers to get ahead. While others are slowing down, you have a unique opportunity to lay the groundwork for a strong finish to 2026 and a head start on 2027.
Here’s how the Miracle Equation applies directly to you:
Unwavering Faith
The first step is belief. Do you believe it’s possible to hit a stretch goal before the year ends? Or to set yourself up for your biggest year ever in 2027?
For most brokers, this belief doesn’t come naturally—it’s something you have to build. Start by visualizing what you want. What does it look like to finish 2026 strong? What would it feel like to roll into 2027 with clarity, momentum, and confidence?
Write that down. Repeat it to yourself daily. This belief will sustain you when challenges arise or the temptation to “wait until next year” creeps in.
Extraordinary Effort
Once you’ve locked in your belief, it’s time to take action. But not just any action—focused, strategic action.
Here’s where most brokers go wrong:
They try to do everything instead of doubling down on the few things that really move the needle.
Here are a few areas you can focus on, depending on where you’re currently at in your journey:
- Pipeline Review: Look at your deals. Are there any closable opportunities that you haven’t fully capitalized on? Reach out to those clients and push them over the line.
- Follow-Ups: This is prime time to follow up with prospects you haven’t spoken to in a while. A simple check-in email or call could uncover a deal that sets the tone for next year.
- Strategic Planning: Use the summer to identify your “success levers” for 2026/2027—the 2–3 key activities that will generate most of your revenue. This way, you’ll finish the year with clarity and focus instead of scrambling to figure it out.
One Last Thing
Before we wrap up, I have a question for you:
What’s one goal you want to achieve before the year ends?
